Drums
The bendir is made by a wooden ring with a diameter of 40-60 cm on which it has been stretched a goat leather. It has only a face to play. Some bendirs on the leather have 3 pearls threats to increase the leather resonance and give it a characteristic timber.
The darabukka is a cup-shaped drum in earthenware, wood or metal. The stretched leather which can be of goat or of fish, is stuck on the edges with little braided threats. The darabukka can be found all over the Arab world.
The reqq is a little Arab drum made by a band on which they are stretched a leather and two lines of saucers.
The tamorra is a little drum with harness bells, typical of the Mediterranean area, above all Italy and Spain flauto. |
