Shawm - It is one of the most important double reeded instruments of the Middle Ages, and it is still present in the popular European, Arab and Asiatic cultures.
It comes from the Arab world, where it is supposed to have been spread during the reign of Haraìun-el-Rashid (763-807).

Probably this instrument was introduced in Europe through the contact with Saracen people.
